Join us on 22 July, 6.00 - 7.30pm to learn from Silvia Amoros, a former city planner for Barcelona’s Metropolitan Area who will explain Barcelona’s superblocks, how the policy was conceived, how it works in practice and what are the lessons for the UK.

SUPERBLOCK’s model is not a new concept, it was proposed in the late 1980s by Salvador Rueda to address air pollution but it was not implemented until 2016. The Barcelona superblock model provides a paradigm shift from car-centric mobility towards people-centred city planning. This transport planning intervention has been linked to increased health, active travel, street activation and well-being.
