NOMINATIONS FOR 2023 HAVE NOW CLOSED.

Open to all: nominate a great City, Town, Neighbourhood, Street or Place for The Urbanism Awards

The Urbanism Awards are the Academy’s primary platform for recognising the best, most enduring or most improved urban environments. Through the Awards we promote and learn from places that demonstrate positive social, physical and economic urbanism.

Help support this work by nominating a great City, Town, Neighbourhood, Street or Place that you know.

Members, find out about how you can get involved in the Urbanism Awards process.

What are we looking for?

We are looking to celebrate and learn from places that are making the most of their inherited assets. Old or new, large or small, known or unknown - we are looking for the places that work well. See previous winners about the 7 Assessment Criteria here.

Using the form below, please provide a short descriptive explanation on why you think the place is worthy of an Urbanism Award. This may include particular projects or schemes, stories and lessons, and challenges and successes. Note that we are unable to accept nominations without a supporting statement. You can make as many nominations as you want.

Know a project or a person doing great work in the field of urbanism that doesn't fit any of the categories? Tell us at [email protected]

The process

The Awards process comprises four major stages: nomination, shortlisting, assessment visits, and the Awards Ceremony. Nomination and the Ceremony are open to all, while shortlisting and assessment are for AoU Members only. Click here to find the full process timeline and opportunities to get involved.

Are there are restrictions?

Places that have reached the Finalist stage within the last 10 years are not eligible for nomination again. Please visit our list of Awards Finalists 2013-2022 to see the places that are not eligible this year.

The European City category is open to any city in the UK and Europe, and the other categories are UK and Ireland only.
