Jonny Anstead is a founding director of TOWN, a profit-with-purpose developer with a mission to create good places for better lives. TOWN works with landowners, local authorities, communities and investors to deliver housing-led projects that improve the wellbeing of individuals, strengthen communities and support the health of the planet.

Jonny believes development can be a force for good, creating social, environmental and commercial value together. He has been instrumental in establishing TOWN as one of the UK’s leading practitioners of cohousing and community-led development, including the award-winning Marmalade Lane in Cambridge, and has championed approaches that place community, stewardship and long-term quality at the heart of development.

His work focuses on how the built environment influences health, wellbeing and opportunity. He gave evidence to Parliament’s Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Select Committee on creating places that work better for children and young people, was from 2019 to 2025 Trustee and then Chair of the Quality of Life Foundation, and writes and speaks regularly on housing, placemaking and quality of life.
