The Academy of Urbanism Awards this year will focus on the people who have made an outstanding contribution to our towns and cities. 

These Awards are a celebration of all the fantastic urbanists nominated and their work.

Open to Academicians only

We are calling on all Academicians to vote in The Urbanism Awards secret ballot to choose a shortlist of three people for each category.

Deadline: 23:59 GMT on Tuesday 5 October 2021

How to Vote:

2) Vote for THREE people to be shortlisted in each category using the form below

What we are looking for:
People who have gone above and beyond what was expected of them, who have shown drive, imagination and leadership to transform a place.

Categories:

  • Civic Leader: This is an award for elected politicians at all levels of government including the many inspirational mayors that we have met over the years.
  • Civic Servant: Anyone working for the public sector at all levels of government.
  • Community Activist: People working in a voluntary or paid capacity for community groups or voluntary organisations.
  • Urban Re-inventor: People working in the private sector including consultants and built environment professionals, developers, housing associations and national organisations and charities.
  • Urban Thinker: Academics, researchers and authors working in the fields of urbanism, urban design and other urban-related subjects.

The Urbanism Awards Assessment Panels 

We still have a few spaces left on the assessment panels. If you would like to get involved in the Awards process email [email protected] to be part of one of our panels.

You will need to be available to do 3 short interviews with the shortlisted candidates and select the finalist in October. 


Next steps:

  • The shortlisted people will have a short interview with our assessment panel.
  • The assessment panel will then select the winner who will be announced at the awards ceremony
  • The Urbanism Award ceremony will be on 24 November at a central London venue

The Academy's return to live events will be marked by The Urbanism Awards, which will take place in a central London venue on 24 November 2021. Join the Academy and our network of urbanists for this important celebration! Please mark the date in your diary – more information will follow soon.
