The Academy of Urbanism (AoU) is delighted to announce the fifteen shortlisted finalists in the Urbanism Awards 2023. Through a process of public nomination and member-led shortlisting, a shortlist of three finalists has been confirmed in each of the following categories:

  • Great Place
  • Great Street
  • Great Neighbourhood
  • Great Town
  • European City of the Year

Initial nomination statements can be read by clicking any photo or finalist name.

Assessment Visits

The next stage in the Awards process are a series of in-person Assessment Visits throughout July, August, and September. These visits are hosted by a Council, Developer, or other stakeholder group and offer an exclusive 'backstage' look at each place. They typically involve a tour, chats with local residents and business owners, and an opportunity to sit down with the hosts.

Dates and more details will be added to this page when visits begin to take shape. These are self-funded and there is no additional fee.

These are open to Academicians, Young Urbanists, and other AoU Members, with more info in our Events Directory. All confirmed dates are listed with the relevant finalists below, and as more are confirmed they will be announced in the AoU Newsletter and added to the Events Directory.
