Tess Broekmans is an urban designer. She is partner at Urhahn Urban Design, an Amsterdam based design office specialized in urban transformation, and professor of Urban Design at the Technical University of Delft. She focusses on the complexity of the everyday and the role of time in urban development: how mayor transitions influence the city and the daily life of people. In Amsterdam she designed Oostenburg, a high density neighbourhood in the city centre, where she closely follows how a redeveloped area becomes a neighbourhood.

Tess studied urban design at the TU Delft. She is guest teacher at the Academy of Architecture in Amsterdam and at the University of Lund in Sweden. As board member of the Amsterdam Architecture Centre (Arcam) she is involved in the latest developments of the city.

Tess will speak as part of the Utrecht: The story so far session on Wednesday 11 June
