Rutger Dijksterhuis is alderman in Amersfoort for the themes Spatial Planning, Cultural heritage, Monuments and Archeology, Tourism, Recreation and Citymarketing. This combination of topics is of great influence on what defines Amersfoort as Amersfoort; the past, presence and future; people, stones and landscapes. By regarding these topics as a whole, the Alderman is able to bring more progress on the individual themes.

Before becoming an alderman, Rutger was a member of the Christian Party in the city council for 12 years. He grew up in the greener part of The Netherlands in between the urban agglomeration. Rutger has a law degree and has worked as a legal and strategic advisor in both the public and social sector. He is a committed father to his daughter and son.

Rutger will speak as part of the Utrecht: The story so far session on Wednesday 11 June
