Matthew Burnett is a Co-founder of Make Room, a built environment consultancy advancing sustainable living through data-driven citizen engagement and research. His work explores the intersection of architecture, sustainability, and urban data, translating complex social-ecological agendas into actionable design strategies.

He is also an Architect and Urban Strategist at Gehl, where he leads strategic design and urban planning projects centred on human and planetary wellbeing. With over four years of experience at Gehl and a global project portfolio spanning Australia, Scandinavia, the US, Asia, and Europe, Matthew applies systems thinking and interdisciplinary design methods to tackle today’s most pressing urban challenges.

 With a background in Architecture, Strategic Design, and Entrepreneurship—earned through joint studies at the Royal Danish Academy and Copenhagen Business School—Matthew bridges creative, strategic, and technical disciplines. He also actively teaches, practices, and publishes, contributing to a global discourse on sustainable, inclusive, and data-informed cities.
