Marcus Horning is the Director of City Planning in Malmö, Sweden. Malmö is Sweden's third-largest city and has the highest growth rate in the country. It is also a super-diverse city, with over 180 nationalities contributing to a common urban fabric. Malmö may be small, but our ambitions are sky-high.

In this context, Marcus is responsible for urban planning at all scales, from master planning to detailed planning and building permits. He focuses on multidisciplinary solutions for complex problems and specializes in being a generalist. By gathering different mindsets and perspectives around the table, he aims to create a movement towards a more sustainable and inclusive city.

Marcus is also the Chairman of the Nordic City Network. He is a driving force in accelerating climate adaptation and transition in urban planning, as well as exploring new forms of democratic processes, such as "Malmö in the Making." Additionally, he is involved in establishing a culture sound zone to preserve and develop a vibrant cultural area in the middle of Malmö, fostering small businesses, music clubs, cultural scenes, and much more in Sofielund.

Marcus will speak as part of the What Delivering Healthy Places Involves session on Thursday 12 June
