With an educational background in sociology and psychology, Jas has a passionate interest in how our environment, physical and social, shapes us as individuals and communities and what makes for successful places, with happy and healthy residents. The Academy has provided the perfect home to develop her understanding, sharing knowledge and learning from other people and places.

At the Academy, Jas has been Congress Curator in Manchester, Glasgow, Derry~Londonderry, Bradford, Bristol, Birmingham, London, Aarhus, Cork, Edinburgh and the recent Congress in Belfast. In addition to Congress, Jas has led key “Learning From” events in Lisbon and Antwerp and was instrumental in managing the Freiburg Charter event.

Away from the Academy, Jas is a Director with Kevin Murray Associates and is an experienced and accomplished engagement specialist and training provider. She manages complex consultation and engagement processes, with communities and stakeholders with diverse and sometimes conflicting needs. Jas is therefore keen to ensure a collaborative approach to engagement and that the methodology, tools and techniques employed and the means of capturing any feedback are creative and accessible, enabling effective participation and learning by all involved.

In 2019, Jas was curator for the Milton Keynes Council’s Design for Living conference and the UNECE Glasgow Conference on City Living.

Jas has also been a guest lecturer at University College London on effective community engagement.
