One day. Two events. Outstanding places. Fresh ideas. New connections.

Programme

The Urbanism Awards Learning Plenary | 14:30 | 70 Cowcross Street*

After our October Learning from the Finalists webinars, we'll hold our Learning Plenary, where we’ll explore a question at the heart of this year’s Urbanism Awards: what makes a place joyful?

Facilitated by Sophia de Sousa (The Glass-House), the conversation will bring together Sarah Allan (MHCLG), Federico Cassani (Buro Happold), Duncan Laird (National Trust), and Dr Idrees Rasouli (ARU). Together, they’ll draw on their diverse expertise to explore what we can learn from this year’s finalists — and how we can put a little more joy into placemaking.

Across all four Awards categories — Streets+Space, Neighbourhoods, Town/Small Cities, and European Cities — the Plenary will offer another opportunity to go behind the scenes of successful projects with the people who shaped them.

Followed by...

The Urbanism Awards Party | 18:00 | The Gazette, Clerkenwell*

Fuelled by all the talk of joyful placemaking, the celebrations kick off with the party!

Here, we’ll celebrate great places and announce this year’s winners for Streets + Spaces, Neighbourhood, Town / Small City, and European City, and connect with finalists and fellow urbanists from across Europe over drinks and food.

*These two venues are approximately a 5-minute walk apart. There will be a 1.5-hour break between sessions to give attendees time to freshen up, explore Clerkenwell, or enjoy one of the area’s many bars for a pre-prandial!
