The second annual conference on contemporary urbanism jointly organised by the AoU and the RIAI in Ireland will take place in Galway on May 29 & 30.

Building on the foundation of last year’s discussion and the success of the Greater Galway Charter the conference will this year examine the challenges and opportunities involved in Planning, Designing and Delivering the 21st Century Neighbourhood.

Moving beyond the twenty minute soundbites, we will hear from a range of international experts who have first-hand experience of delivering lifelong liveable neighbourhoods. The conference will include the voices of a wide range of those involved in place-making, included policy makers, local representatives, architects, planners, urban designers, engineers, developers, community activists and local residents.

The discussion will pick up on one of the themes of last year looking at Emerging Galway and the potential for this city to chart a way forward for smaller cities generally.

We will hear from younger residents and a range of community groups who simply love living in solid, sustainable and walkable neighbourhoods.

This conference qualifies for CPD points for a number of professional bodies and booking and other details will be published in early March.

Book via the Eventbrite portal at the bottom of this page, or by clicking here. AoU Members can find their discount code in the Members' Corner here.
