Jane’s Walk London recently announced that the JWL Festival will take place between Friday 10 May to Sunday 12 May this year.  For those that are new to the Academy, we encourage our Young Urbanists each year to lead a walk in their community and start a walking conversation.

About Jane's Walk

Journalist and activist Jane Jacobs believed that getting to know your own neighbourhoods and each other is the foundation of a city-building. Maintaining Jane Jacob’s vision, those at Jane’s Walk London actively encourage everyone to share their story about their neighbourhood, discover unseen aspects of their communities, and use these walking conversations as a way to connect with others.

Anyone can lead a Jane’s Walk because everyone is an expert on the places they live, work, and play. Jane Jacob

Jane's Walk London is part of the Jane's Walk network, a global movement and a community-based approach to city building that uses volunteer-led walking conversations to make space for people to observe, reflect, share, question and re-imagine the places in which they live, work and play. Jane Jacobs (1916-2006) was a writer, urbanist and activist who championed the voices of everyday people in neighbourhood planning and city-building.

Interested in leading a Walk?

This is a very exciting opportunity for our YUs to test some of Jane Jacobs’ ideas about city-planning, learn on the ground knowledge by interacting with community groups and participants and further develop their experience and expertise.

The process is very simple, just an initial idea to go out and walk with others. Please complete a form here
